Abstract

Observation results at St. Thomas Aquino pointed out that some students experience difficulties in achieving independent learning due to lack of motivation.
The causes include difficulty understanding the material independently, boredom, and lack of direction in learning.
The aim of this research is to determine the effect of ChatGPT 3.5 on mathematics learning, motivation and independence.
This research uses a quasi-experimental design and quantitative methodology.
The research population was class X students of St. Catholic High School. Thomas Aquino, numbering 96 people.
The research sample consisted of an experimental class of 36 people in class X-1 and a control class of 28 people in class X-3.
The sampling strategy used was purposive sampling and data collection was carried out using a questionnaire.
The data analysis method used is the T test.
The results of the research show a value of sig = 0.001 for motivation and independence in learning mathematics, so that H01 and H02 are rejected and Ha1 and Ha2 are accepted.
The conclusion is that there is an influence of using ChatGPT 3.5 on the motivation and independence in learning mathematics for class X students at St.
Catholic High School.
