Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a transformative shift in India’s education system by emphasizing the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into mainstream education. This research paper explores the policy’s vision of reviving and incorporating traditional Indian knowledge—spanning Ayurveda, Yoga, Sanskrit, philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, and other indigenous disciplines—into modern curricula. Through a qualitative review of literature and policy analysis, the study examines how NEP 2020 aims to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary education. The findings suggest that the inclusion of IKS fosters cultural pride, interdisciplinary learning, and holistic development. However, challenges such as curriculum standardization, faculty training, and institutional resistance remain. The paper concludes with recommendations for effective implementation and future research directions
