This study examines the rationality of consumption behavior from the perspective of Islamic economics within religious study groups (pengajian) at mosques in Tegal City. The research focuses on the application of maqashid al-shariah principles, moderation (wasathiyah), and the consumption of halal and tayyib goods in daily life. A qualitative approach was employed through interviews and observations to understand how Islamic values influence the consumption patterns of these communities. The findings reveal that members of the pengajian community have a high level of awareness regarding Sharia-compliant consumption. The research results show that members of the Miftahul Jannah recitation community have a high awareness of sharia-compliant consumption. They prioritize fulfilling primary needs, avoid extravagance (israf), and ensure the consumption of halal and good (tayyib) products.Apart from that, direct observations were also made of their shopping process at the traditional klampok market to obtain more comprehensive data. The study group actively provides education through regular discussions and practical guidance regarding ethical consumption according to Islamic teachings. The study concludes that rational consumption behavior in Islam is not solely based on economic efficiency but also includes moral and spiritual considerations. To promote these practices, strengthening religious education, active community roles, and policy support are essential. Future research is recommended to explore the implementation of Islamic consumption principles in other communities while considering the impact of economic factors
