This paper, "Advancing Self-Reliant Defense:
Analysis of CBM between India and France to
Strengthen India’s Military Capabilities,"
examines the strategic partnership between India
and France aimed at enhancing India’s defense
self-reliance. The study explores the historical
context, strategic goals, and implementation of
Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) that have
facilitated defense cooperation, including
technology transfer, joint exercises, and strategic
alignments. Through qualitative research, the
paper highlights the benefits and challenges of
this partnership, emphasizing the significant
strides India has made toward self-reliance in
defense. The findings indicate that CBMs have
strengthened trust, interoperability, and military
capabilities, contributing to regional security. The
paper concludes with recommendations for
further enhancing this bilateral cooperation to
ensure sustained progress in India's defense selfreliance and regional stability
