Abstract

Indonesia and Australia's relationship is complex,
encompassing historical, cultural, economic, and
geopolitical aspects. Over time, it has evolved
from mistrust to strategic importance and
cooperation, with defense diplomacy playing a
key role. The joint military exercise "Elang
AUSINDO" exemplifies this, enhancing military
interoperability, understanding, and cooperation,
and highlighting the role of Confidence Building
Measures (CBMs) in strengthening bilateral ties
and regional stability. This research, using a
descriptive qualitative method and literature
review, analyzes the dimensions of IndonesiaAustralia defense cooperation and explores
strategies for enhancing defense diplomacy. The
findings emphasize the importance of continuous
diplomatic efforts and strategic cooperation in
overcoming challenges and maximizing mutual
benefits
