Abstract

This research investigates the perspectives and attitudes of Generation Z (Gen Z) in Ahmedabad regarding solar panel usage to decrease electricity consumption. As global energy demands rise and the environmental impacts of fossil fuels become more pronounced, solar energy presents a sustainable alternative. India, with its burgeoning energy needs, is increasingly turning to renewable sources, with Gujarat, particularly Ahmedabad, leading in solar energy adoption. Gen Z, defined as those born between the mid-1990s and early 2010s, is characterized by strong environmental consciousness and technological fluency, making them critical stakeholders in the energy transition. This study aims to understand how Gen Z views solar energy, focusing on economic viability, environmental impact, and technological familiarity. By exploring the motivations and barriers Gen Z faces in adopting solar technology, the research seeks to inform policies and strategies that can enhance solar energy utilization in Ahmedabad, contributing to broader sustainable development goals.
